| What is Newton Learning? |
 |
| The Newton Learning Adventure offers
FUN and EXCITING lessons to students in Kindergarten through 8th
grade. Activity-based lessons focus on the fundamentals of reading
and math and are designed to motivate students and spark an interest
in learning while improving overall achievement. |
 |
| How do I know if my child is eligible? |
 |
| You should have received notice from
your school that your child is eligible. Your child must attend
one of the Title I schools in need of improvement, and you must
qualify for free or reduced lunch. In some districts, only those
who qualify for a free lunch are eligible for SES. |
 |
| Does the program cost anything? |
 |
| No. The program is free for parents. |
 |
| How do I sign up/where do I get an enrollment form? |
 |
| You can pick up an enrollment form at your child’s school. |
 |
| What subjects are offered? |
 |
| The Newton Learning curriculum focuses on reading/language arts and math. |
 |
| Who will be teaching? |
 |
| Newton hires both certified and non-certified
teachers to implement the Newton Learning curriculum. Non-certified
teachers generally have at least 60 hours of college credit or
teaching experience. When appropriate, your child’s regular
teacher may also implement the Newton program. |
 |
| What are the lessons like? |
 |
| Each Newton Learning
lesson provides students with opportunities for “learning
by doing”. We strive to make each lesson active, engaging,
and interesting for students from all academic levels and learning
styles. |
 |
| Will Newton help my child with his homework? |
 |
| While the structure of each program
is slightly different, Newton usually dedicates the last portion
of each session to “School Connection.” During this
time teachers help students connect the Newton program to what
they’re doing during the regular school day, in part by
helping them with homework. |
 |
| How will I know how my child is doing? |
 |
So that you can measure your child’s
success with this program, Newton Learning will:
- Test your child at the beginning and end of the program, so you will be able to measure progress.
- Create an Individual Achievement Plan to meet your child’s needs
- Regularly report on your child’s achievement
